The Spring Church, photo from 2013This historic St Louis church began as a Baptist church in 1884, but changed denominations numerous times until an electrical fire burned it to ruins in 2001. The nonprofit Grand Center purchased the building in 2003 with initial plans to convert it into an urban sculpture garden. Structural concerns prevented this from happening. The Pulitzer Foundation finally stabilized the ruins after purchasing the church in May of 2020. Right around the corner from the Foundation's museum, the open-air pavilion is now used for community gatherings and public art.
